Oh my Stars...

Sometime you just need to see an awesome
typeface to realize how awesome type can be.
Just take a look at stuff at dafont.com and try
and tell me that they even come close to this
beauty entitled Galaxie Copernicus, of the
extremely attractive Galaxie family. This one
is new for '09 and is only available at Vllg.com.

All about: Funeral Mist-"A New Light" and
"Blessed Curse", Ameseours-S/T, Orange Juice
Isis in general, Pretty much everything.

Glory Glory!

Oh man, Brand New never ceases to make my day.
Seeing this awesome description of the thought
process behind this stellar branding for a tire company was
beyond exciting. How cool would it be to make and see
all those guidelines put into action? It is so simple, yet
so fantastic! Seeing this stuff make me fall in love over
and over again with design, it just makes flowers
grow in my head.

Into: Amesoeurs-S/T, Funeral Mist-Marantha, ISIS-
20 Minutes/40 Years, Bat for Lashes and Metric's
new records, Being back in school, and Rachel

I'm a Poster, You're a Poster, Let's Poster Together

After all of that work, we posted our lovely posters
on the wall for a big show. There were some nifty
pieces on the wall, and the progress everyone has
made since last semester is apparent. I quite liked
a few of them. It's a good crew we got going in this
communication studio class, I'm proud to be a part
of it. My poster was chosen along with Cole's,
Robyn's, Stephanie F's, among others to be
shown in the little gallery, so I am super stoked to
have that happen! All in all I'm happy to have it be done,
and I eagerly await the next project...but for now
I await a smooth trip to the mountains with some of
the best dudes out there.

I'll post pics as they become available.

Totally Into: Let the Right One In (awesome vampire
flick), Bat for Lashes-"Glass", Mastodon, Beer, Mellowed
out weeks, and Trip to Lone Pine, Gospel-"The Moon is
a Dead World"

Best Line of 2005

"Awkwardness happening to someone you love."

PDF=Poster Done Finally; Please Don't Fret

"Ahhh"....the sounds of sighs after a long week
of intense reformatting and layering has
lead me to the promised land. My poster is
complete and I am quite happy with the results.
I can't even count how many versions of this
that I have done, but this one is by far the best.

The past 24 hours were a disaster of emotions
as I could not manage to make my file small
enough to print. It wasn't until a few hours ago
that I magically fixed it after consulting various
possible experts and internets.

All In all, I am done, and ready to work on
whatcould very well be a hundred page process
book. This project was by far one of my
favorites,as all of the exploration and sheer work
level was extremely fruitful. I became better at
photoshopand my vision was widened to crazy
un-paul things like flowers, feminist novels, intense
usage of space and humanist sans-serif type
(Hermann Zapf's "Optima" was used on this poster).

I hope you all, whomever you are, enjoy it or at least
can see remants of all of the hours that was put into it.

Relief: Mastodon "Sleeping Giant", Broadcast,
The Greyhound (drink), Orange juice and
a great sense of completion.

Mummy, can I has it.

So here is the finished spread for my drawing
class. Again, I'm not into my hurried watercolors
but whatever. Also, the fact that the title is on
the right bugs me...although it does add to the
cohesive nature of things. So that is that.

Around the bend: Mastodon-"Diviniations",
Robert Bringhurst "The Elements of Typographic
Style", Hermann Zapf's Optima typeface, Watain.

...to kick wit her, not kick it wit you.

The poster project is coming to a close
next week, so i am frantically trying
to make this thing happen in a fashion
that works for all involved. I used this
absolutely killer poster by Josef Muller-
Brockamann as a launch pad and went
from there.

Not quite there yet, but a few more hours
of moving stuff around and we will get
there, I can see it.

In orbit: Broadcast-"Tender Buttons",
Junior Boys-"Begone Dull Care",waiting
for packages in the mail, Gorguts-
Obscura, Awaiting the Opeth/Enslaved
show in May, Fujiya and Miyagi live,
haircuts all around, no rain.

Recommendation: Gorguts-"Obscura"

This is no post about design...let me tell you. It is simply
a statement. It goes as so:

This record will change you're whole perspective on music.
it is out of print, but you can download it on the internet
at this place. "Obscura" is literally one of the weirdest
records out there, so go check it out.

that is all.
